Editor’s note: Do you wanna know how I got this depression? My father was an alcoholic and a gamer. One night, he wins a card game with me and asks me: why no happy? I could list a few reasons, I say. Sand shortage, for example. Why be happy whilst people are dying because the sand mafia is killing them to steal sand and sell it on the black market? One day you live on an island, the next it is gone, like dozens of other islands that disappeared as a result of sand theft. And don’t even get me started on Singapore. You’re probably wondering why they don’t take it from the Sahara, plenty of sand there, right? You know nothing about sand, do you? It’s only the material that our whole fucking civilization was built on, so nothing to worry about, no need to educate yourself on it. But if you did, you’d know Sahara sand is trash. Only marine sand matters – soft gold they call it. Computer chips – let me tell you about them, they are full of sand. So is glass, concrete and TNT, as you’ll know from Minecraft. Planes are practically built from sand. Sand is the invisible air we breathe.
